Talent is an Equalizer

Temple Talents Foundation

A future

Where every child thrives through creative expression and lifelong learning

Displaced children—especially internally displaced children—are among the most vulnerable. While refugees benefit from a defined legal framework, internally displaced persons (IDPs) often rely on ad hoc arrangements to address their rights and needs. The absence of dedicated international legal instruments and a single overseeing agency for IDP assistance and protection leaves many without adequate support. Temple Talents is bridging this gap through art, writing, and skills development programs, providing displaced children with the opportunities to heal, learn and grow

Psychosocial care and protection for displaced children using Art

Re-establishing a stable family life and a sense of normalcy is essential for the well-being of children displaced by urban development projects, conflict, or other societal upheavals. Familiar routines provide structure, purpose, and meaning, helping them regain stability. Temple Talents Foundation is providing Internally Displaced Children (IDC) in Soroti city slums with opportunities for self-expression, enabling them to share their stories, be heard, and feel acknowledged. This empowers them to process their past, navigate their present, and shape their future.

Re-establishing a stable family life and a sense of normalcy is essential for the well-being of children displaced by urban development projects, conflict, or other societal upheavals. Familiar routines provide structure, purpose, and meaning, helping them regain stability. Equally important is fostering opportunities for self-expression. Children need meaningful ways to share their stories, be heard, and feel acknowledged. Artistic activities are a powerful medium in this process, enabling children to process their past, navigate their present, and envision their future.

Free Write

Fun learning sessions where we give children a prompt, set a timer, and they write until it stops. No structured storylines, no grammatical rules —just the freedom to write whatever story the prompt triggers, until the timer stops! Then revisit and refine it with the help of a mentor, and read-aloud before peers
