It’s school holidays! And what a joyful start. We received a generous donation of books, pens, and pencils from an anonymous well-wisher, accompanied by a simple note of encouragement. These supplies couldn’t have come at a better time, as they fill what would otherwise be a big gap in study materials for the children.

We welcome back children from their respective schools. Those who have been in boarding are home, and the day scholars—who make up the majority of our beneficiaries—will now be spending more of their days and time with us. For the next four weeks of holidays, we shall be engaging them for longer hours and more days!
This is another opportunity to break away from the formalities and restrictions of grammar and reading in schools, and instead enjoy free, creative, and expressive reading and writing exercises with us.
With our centre not large enough, and with even more children expected to join in, we shall be prioritising community-based reading and writing outreaches. Fortunately, our strong partnerships with schools and the community mean we have access to school halls whenever we need indoor space, and outdoor grounds whenever activities take us there.
Volunteer teachers from the locality will also be joining us to help manage the higher numbers, so we expect a truly productive holiday season.
