Our Story

Starting in a backyard

In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic changed everyday life across the world. Schools closed, playgrounds fell silent and many children in Soroti suddenly lost more than classrooms. They lost places to learn, create and belong.

Rather than waiting for normal to return, we opened our backyard to a small group of children. We had a few ukuleles, improvised drums made from water jerrycans, and a couple of personal Christian storybooks. Through music, storytelling, singing and Bible study, children found friendship, encouragement and a place to be children again.

Growth & Registration

More children came, and what started with a handful gathering in a backyard grew into a community of young learners who kept coming back. We registered with Soroti City Council in 2021, and with URSB in 2025.

The Centre

Years after those first gatherings in a backyard, Temple Talents found its home. Today, children and young people come to The Centre to read, make music, explore technology and develop their skills. A lot has changed since those early days, but the reason we began has not.

The Story Continues

Every child who walks through our doors becomes part of a story that is still being written. We continue to create opportunities for children and young people to learn, make things, develop their abilities and discover what they are capable of.
